Design a strong password

MODULE CONTENTS

This module allows the learner to identify the robustness of a password. It proposes a technique for designing strong passwords: the passphrase. This module consists of a 3-minute motion design followed by a quiz to validate the learner's skills.

PEDAGOGICAL OBJECTIVES

  • Identify a strong password

  • Know how to create a strong password

  • Know the passphrase technique

A lot of passwords are easy to guess.

It's important to understand that your password allows you to authenticate, i.e. to prove your identity, but above all to protect your precious personal data. It is imperative that you learn how to create strong passwords, which is not an easy thing to do.

Today we consider that a strong password is composed of 10 or 12 characters, and at least one upper case, one lower case, one number and one special character. This makes it possible to thwart attacks by hackers, who are then faced with millions of possibilities! Tips for creating a good password have evolved since the advent of digital technology.

The passphrase is currently the most recommended solution.

A tip: a phrase that makes you laugh is easier to remember! For example: "I like intergalactic travel" or "In the morning I look like Chewbacca". Capitalize some words, add numbers and finally use special characters. The result is a strong password that suits you.

It will be less easy to find for a hacker, contrary to "starwars", "password" or the famous "123456" still very frequently used!

You now know how to design a passphrase that will allow you to better protect yourself in the future.
