LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Individuals' rights under the GDPR
This module on people's rights under the GDPR highlights the main rights guaranteed to individuals regarding their personal data. The GDPR grants individuals several key rights, such as the right of access, which allows them to find out what data is held about them and obtain a copy; the right of rectification, which allows incorrect data to be corrected; and the right to portability, which facilitates the transfer of data from one organization to another.
Individuals also have the right to know how their data is used, by whom, and for what purposes, within a framework of increased transparency. If an individual feels that their data is being misused, or if they wish to object to a specific processing operation, they can lodge a complaint with the National Data Protection Authority.
The company, for its part, must respect these rights and respond to individuals' requests within 15 days. This module therefore focuses on the importance of understanding these rights, both for individuals and for companies, and on the means of guaranteeing their application in the context of personal data protection.
