PEDAGOGICAL OBJECTIVES
Diversity: A Key Issue for Corporate Inclusion
Acting for diversity means above all fighting discrimination and inequality, and working for inclusion. Certain populations, such as seniors, young people, people with disabilities, women and people from different ethnic backgrounds, find it harder to progress in the world of work.
Seniors are often victims of prejudice linked to their age, a supposed drop in performance or expectations perceived as out of step with the modern age. Yet many companies have put in place action plans and training programs to keep these experienced workers in employment.
Young people are often considered too unreliable or not committed enough, even though they are motivated and ready to put their skills into practice. People with disabilities, meanwhile, continue to encounter obstacles to their professional inclusion, despite legal progress and the accommodations put in place.
For women, inequalities remain, with lower pay for equal work, limited access to management positions, and difficulties linked to maternity and family organization. Sexist behaviour is still commonplace and hinders women's progress. However, awareness is growing, and more and more companies are taking up the fight for gender equality.
Ethnic differences are also a persistent source of discrimination, even though migration has enriched our societies by diversifying cultures and points of view. Combating prejudice linked to origin and promoting the inclusion of talent, whatever their culture, is a source of wealth for companies.
Diversity is a major asset: it enriches exchanges, fosters creativity and brings in more heterogeneous visions. Promoting inclusion and opening up to diversity means choosing a more efficient, fairer and more humane company.
